Schwartz’s Deli, Montreal
Very tasty, indeed. It’s Canadian Pastrami, eh? Pretty much. I was concerned that this was a tourist trap, but an experienced visitor reassured me that it wasn’t, so I went and was not disappointed. The sandwiches are normal-sized, so if you’re expecting some kind of Carnegie Deli thing, order two. They can be a little fatty, but the staff, took care of getting us something leaner. Amusing highlight: one of our party asked about getting the smoked meat versus something else (and there is very little of anything else) and the response was, quite simply: “That’s why you’re here.”
